The silent auction is a fundraising event sponsored by the Beaver Island Lodge and the Beaver Island Rural Health Center. The auction will be for an original painting commissioned from artist Mary Blocksma. The commission of the painting will be paid for by the Beaver Island Lodge and all proceeds of the auction will benefit the Rural Health Center. The winning bidder of the auction will receive a custom painting from the artist of their home on the Island, the view from their home or even a favorite place or scene on the Island. The posters displayed here are copies of commissions by the Beaver Island Lodge from Ms Blocksma and are shown to provide examples of the painting the winning bidder may commission. The original paintings can be viewed at McDonough’s Market. The artist and her work will also be present at the art show held during Museum Week from July 21st to the 26th. The starting bid amount for this custom work is set at $1,500.00 with minimum bid increments of $25.00. Bids can be made in person at the Health Center, via email to WWW.BIRHC.ORG, or by phone to the Health Center at 231-448-2275. Bids will be accepted until August 19, 2008. A benefit dinner will be held at the Beaver Island Lodge on the 19th and final bids will be taken until 7:30 pm. The winning bidder will be announced at the dinner at 8:00 pm. Bidders need not be present to win. The artist will be present at the dinner and available to begin consultations with the winning bidder the following day. The painting is anticipated to be done in Acrylic on illustration board. Depending on the request of the winning bidder, the finished painting could be submitted within two months. The painting submitted will be the final image produced. Framing will be the responsibility of the winning bidder. Thank you for your support of the Health Center and good luck with your bid!
