BIRHC Board | Services Available on Beaver Island through the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging Please call Donna Kubic for further information 231-448-2275 A qualified and trained homemaker comes to your home for 2 hours every other week, on a regular basis and provides light duty housekeeping, such as vacuuming, mopping floors, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, laundry, grocery shopping and errands to help maintain a clean and healthy environment for homebound individuals with functional limitations. (We recommend that you refer the heavier or outdoor work to a private individual or contractor.) $5.00 donation per hours suggested but not required. Meals are delivered throughout Charlevoix County to eligible homebound seniors age 60 and over. Nutritiously balanced meals, which have been approved by a dietitian, are served hot daily or delivered weekly as fresh frozen meals that can be easily reheated. Suggested donation: $2.00 per meal. Personal Care is available which would be 1-2 baths per week. A certified nurses aide comes to your home to assist a frail, homebound elderly individual with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, ambulation, and hair care. Suggested donation: $5.00 per hour not required. Respite (relief for caregivers) is provided by trained, certified nurses aides for dementia and medical clients. Regular, weekly time is scheduled so the caregiver can make appointments and run errands. Respite care amounts to 4 hours per week 9-1 or 1-5. $5.00 donation per hour is recommended but not required for respite care. |
